Fighting back against a powerful corporation or an aggressive debt collector isn’t just a job for me—it’s a calling. I founded my law practice on a simple, powerful belief: every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, especially when facing a stressful financial challenge. My mission is to be the advocate who stands up for you when a company with endless resources tries to bully, harass, or take advantage of you. I sue abusive debt collectors who break the law, and I fight to restore the good name of identity theft victims.
Though I'm originally from Nebraska, I came to Texas for my undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and have called it home ever since. After college, I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. My legal education provided the foundation for my career, solidifying my passion for using the law to protect individuals against unfair business practices.
As an Austin-based consumer law attorney since 2009, I have dedicated my practice to helping people navigate two of the most stressful financial crises: overwhelming debt and identity theft. I’ve seen firsthand how debt collection agencies use intimidating tactics to pursue people, often for debts that aren't even valid. I've also seen how victims of identity theft are left to clean up a complex financial mess on their own, their credit ruined by fraudulent accounts.
My approach is to turn the tables on these bullies. As a solo practitioner, I use powerful federal laws like the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to protect my clients. I challenge the evidence, fight to remove inaccurate information from credit reports, and hold these companies accountable. When you work with my firm, you work directly with me—not a paralegal or a junior associate. This allows me to provide the focused, personal attention your case deserves.
When I’m not in the office or the courtroom, my life here in Austin is pretty simple. It mostly revolves around my dog, Buddy. Whether we're exploring the Greenbelt trails or he’s just napping at my feet while I review a case, he’s a constant reminder of the importance of loyalty and having someone dependably in your corner. That’s the same commitment I bring to every one of my clients.
If you are being harassed by a debt collector, facing a lawsuit, or trying to clean up the financial mess caused by identity theft, you don’t have to go through it alone. Your story matters, and your rights are worth fighting for. Contact my office today, and let’s talk about how we can fight back together.
